Du'as (Supplications)

Starting something

When Muslims start something, they should say:
Bis-millaahir-Rahmani-r-Rahim
Translation: In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Kind.

Greeting a Muslim

'As-salaamu alai-kum
Translation: Peace be with you.

Replying to greeting

Wa-alai-kumu-s-salaamu

Waking up in the morning

'Al-hamdu li-Llaahi-l-Ladhi 'Ahyaa-naa ba'da maa amaatana wa- ilaihi-n-nushur
Translation: praise be to Allah, He Who revived us to life after giving us death, and unto Him we shall return.

When seeing beauty of the morning

'Asbah-naa wa 'asbaha-l mulku li-Llaahi Rabbi-l-'Aalamin
Translation: we enter upon the morning, and so does the creation of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

When entering the bathroom

Bis-millahi. Allahumma inni 'a'udhu bi-ka minal-khubuthi wa-l-khabaa'ithi
Translation: In the name of Allah. O Allah! I seek refuge in you from the foul male and female devils.

When leaving the bathroom

Ghufraana-ka, Al-hamdu li-Llaahi-l-Ladhi Adhaba anni-l-Adhaa wa-afaani
Translation: Your pardon O Allah! Praise be to Allah Who caused harm to go away and gave me relief.

Entering masjid

Allahumma iftah li abwaaba Rahmati-ka
O Allah! Open for me doors of Your Mercy.

When leaving masjid

Allamumma inni as'alu-ka min Fadli-ka
O Allah! I ask you to give me your bounty.

When ready to go outdoors

In the Name of Allah, I rely on Allah, and there is no might or power except that (allowed) by Allah.

We should visit sick people and pray to Allah to make them well.

As'alu-Llaha-l- Azima Rabba-l-Arshi un yushfik
I ask Allah, the Al-Mighty, Lord of the Throne, to cure you.

After sneezing

Al-hamdu li-Llahi ala kulli Haal
Praise be to Allah under all circumstances.

When hearing someone sneeze, say

Yarhamu-ka Allah
May Allah have Mercy on you.
